Mission Statement

The mission of the Rural Metro Fire Department is to meet the needs of the communities we serve by providing high level services in a cost-effective manner.  We accomplish this through the efficient delivery of emergency medical services, fire suppression, disaster management, fire prevention, and public education.

Vision Statement

The vision of the Rural Metro Fire Department is to be the industry leader in providing emergency services while exceeding the expectations of the customers we serve.

  • To provide for the safety and well-being of our Firefighters

  • To attract and retain a highly-qualified workforce

  • To hire a diverse workforce representative of the communities we serve

  • To invest in the professional development of our employees to ensure they obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform their job

  • To grow as a Fire Department to provide long term stability and sustainability

With eight strategically placed fire stations staffed by highly trained firefighters and emergency medical personnel, Rural Metro Fire Department is the sole fire protection agency for numerous unincorporated communities in Pima County, Catalina Foothills, the Town of Sahuarita, and the following four fire districts: Hidden Valley, Sabino Vista, Tanque Verde, and Tucson Country Club Estates.

Unlike fire district residents who pay for their fire protection services through property taxes, residents, business owners and property owners in the Town of Sahuarita and the unincorporated areas of Pima County are responsible for setting up an account directly with Rural Metro. This means fire protection and emergency medical services are not paid for through taxes and residents are responsible for establishing fire service directly with Rural Metro Fire.
