knox-fire-bureauThe Knox County Fire Bureau and Rural Metro Fire Department partner in providing fire prevention and life safety education programs to the citizens and businesses of Knox County. Although programs are offered to all demographics, children and seniors are a primary targets as they are the most susceptible to death and injury from fire.

In this effort, we jointly fund two public education positions, currently filled by Larry Wilder and Colin Cumesty. Larry Wilder is primarily responsible for bringing the "Fire Safety House" out to area kindergarten classes to teach fire prevention and safety. The Safety House is actually a trailer with the interior modeled after a home to allow the students to discuss and practice fire safety in a realistic environment. Colin is primarily responsible for fire prevention and extinguisher training, focusing on Knox County business.  Classes in fire safety and prevention are also available for other community groups, including Homeowner's Associations and civic groups.
